2-channel audio/video installation, 25:00 minute loop, 2006
On the left-channel, the perimeter of a developing subdivision is captured through the window of a moving car. On the right-channel, 24 portraits of people living in Brampton, Canada are represented. A woman’s voice lists all of the existing street names while a man’s voice lists all of the proposed and rejected names. The Region of Peel (which includes the City of Brampton) is one of the fastest growing and most culturally diverse regions in North America.
