Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere:
This Could Be Anywhere, This Could Be Everywhere

The final component of Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere is the 2-channel video installation entitled This Could Be Anywhere, This Could Be Everywhere.

On the left-channel, the perimeter of a developing subdivision is captured through the window of a moving car. On the right-channel, 24 portraits of people living in this environment are represented. In terms of audio, a woman’s voice lists all of the existing street names while a man’s voice lists the proposed and rejected names in the Region of Peel. Most importantly, this project incorporates residents of this community into the entire framework of Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere – creating dialogue between the content and materials represented throughout this project and all of the other projects comprising Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere. As a side note, it is important to mention that this project truthfully represents a random, unbiased reflection of the diversity within Brampton and the Region of Peel. In order to ensure this would be the case, all of the individuals represented in this video participated on a volunteer basis and every volunteer is included in the final edit.
